Badsley Moor Builders, Rotherham

This A2 collaborative print was made using images draw by 30 foundation children from Badsley Moor Infant School,  Lou Sumray and me. The images were inspired by building work which has been ongoing in the school since a terrible flood over the Christmas period. The print also contains macro iPhone images, captured from damp plaster, water damaged wood and peeling paint.

Artist Commission - Hoyland Centre - Windows

Here is a quick indication of how one of my existing drawings would look, sandblasted on to the 5 large upper windows of the new Hoyland Centre. My initial thoughts were around the use of coloured vinyls, but they have a limited lifespan (3 - 7 years max), and sandblasting is permanent. The potential subtle nature of the sandblasting technique will allow for a more complex and intricate set of images! Very exciting stuff! I am also working on images for a large scale digital print and temporary fabric works which will be displayed inside the building,  linking with and complimenting the work on the windows.

New Painting Set Up!

I am really enjoying this new painting set up.... The box easel is offering up a great painting angle, and the chunky Alu-Pen is incredibly comfortable and responsive to use. The iPads are displaying two pieces that I am currently working on in Artrage.

Artist Commission - Barnsley LIFT Hoyland - Day002

Here is a selection of VERY quick sketches that I made this morning in Hoyland town centre, in an attempt to capture something of the community and energy of the place, on this beautiful morning. I had some interesting conversations about the commission, visited the market, collected some textures, and managed to pick up two easels at a bargain price!

Artist Commission - Barnsley LIFT Hoyland - Day001 - Post002

Today saw the start of creative engagement sessions for the Hoyland Lift Project Commission. I had the pleasure of working with 15 delightful Year 4 pupils. Using my work as a starting point the children explored faces and figures using sketchbooks, paper and a variety of materials.
