The final engagement day of the Hoyland LIFT Artist Commission went ahead on Friday with an eclectic mix of outcomes. More figure drawings, iPad paintings and portrait studies from life, courtesy of local residents who agreed to come into school and pose for us! Some of the drawings and paintings made by the young artists will feed into the final work which will appear in, on and around the new Hoyland Centre.

Artist Commission - Barnsley LIFT Hoyland- More Pupil Collaborations
The top image was painted on one of my iPads by Monika (a year 6 pupil) during a workshop at West Meadows School in Hoyland, Barnsley, as part of the community engagement process for the Hoyland LIFT Commission. The image below was worked up today by the amazingly generous Susan Murtaugh, on her iPad, in her studio in Wisconsin USA. What an amazing collaboration!

Artist Commission - Hoyland Centre - Windows
Following a fantastic meeting yesterday with enthusiastic library and council staff who will be working within the new Lift Centre in Hoyland, I have been working on creating 'sweeping' shapes, inside which drawings and graphic elements will be sandblasted directly onto the glass. The top image is an impression of what the sweeping motifs will look like once installed.

Live Draw - The Culture Vulture
Last night I had the pleasure of creating a large 'colouring wall' at The Culture Vulture's 2nd birthday party in a fantastic warehouse space in Leeds. Party goers were invited to colour and create within the lines that I put down, and add to the image, which is destined to become a future banner for their web site. Great venue, lovely people, top fun! Images courtesy of Robochops.
