Here are a few works in progress from my new mini-project Three Days In November. My idea is to try and create a coherent body of new work over a 3 day period (well about 60 hrs), here in this log cabin in North Yorkshire. I plan to create a small scale publication of the work which includes (so far); sketches, paintings, iPad paintings, drawings and text. I am also looking at putting together a micro short film documenting the process. Ok thats it, better crack on..... 37 hrs to go!

This weekend saw me caught up in a whirlwind trip to Southern Italy to co-host a series of workshops alongside Matthew Watkins and Benjamin Rabe at the SPA gallery in Andria. Together we delivered 3 workshops over the course of Saturday looking at iPad fingerpainting and traditional media techniques. The staff and volunteers at the gallery were amazing, and their hospitality and enthusism was second to none. An amazing experience in a truly wonderful part of the world. Elsecar Heritage Centre - South Yorkshire - Site Consultation 001

Today was a beautiful day! And what better way to spend it than with a group of enthusiastic children (from St Helens Primary School) at Elsecar Heritage Centre? The days work was based around exploring the site through walking, looking, writing and drawing, and then suggesting areas for improvement along with a personal wish list for the site. It was a very productive day, which saw the children produce some amazing images (on cups as well as paper) and develop some great ideas for the site..... I can't wait until tomorrow! This selection of fine photographs was capture by Yvonne Roberts and illustrates the day perfectly!

Following a successful digital 'finger-painting' workshop at MK&G in Hamburg, the artists gathered at the studio of Benjamin Rabe, and collectively fingerpainted (the old fashioned way) this wall painting. We had great fun with this, and created the whole thing without blue. Green is the new blue I am told!

Today saw the start of 6 days of 'consultation and arts activity' at the Newcomen Beam Engine site at Elsecar Heritage Centre. I had the pleasure of welcoming a number of enthusiastic visitors to the site, and was able to offer a mini tour of the Newcomen Building and share my limited knowledge. It's a site which in my experience is always met with enthusiasm by young and old alike. The people I engaged with today were a mix of family groups and 'Steam Enthusiasts' from further afield.

I will be working collaboratively with visitors on the Newcomen site on the following days throughout August: Friday 12th, Thursday 18th, Friday 19th, Thursday 25th and Friday 26th, with a view to creating Beam Engine inspired artwork and images to be sited on these 3 panels at the Elsecar Heritage Centre.

An indication of how one of the panels could look using an image made during my previous time at the Newcomen site.

I was also fortunate enough to be visited by Artist Anna Connor today, and she made this enchanting sketch of the Gates which lead into the Newcomen Site.

A mixed bag of activity today as I continued my work at Elsecar Heritage Centre. I spent a lot of time based at the Beam Engine site, with several breaks in activity as I swapped hats and became 'tour guide, to a number of interested and enthusiastic visitors. Today saw the first day of the 'Inventions Week' commission at Elsecar Heritage Centre. What a great day. I was fortunate to have a quick tour of the site first thing, including a look at the FANTASTIC Newcomen Engine. I then had a long stint drawing and reflecting the tour of the site, followed in the late morning and afternoon by a steady stream of families, who were keen to get involved in drawing using traditional materials and my iPads. The plan for the week is to develop a series of collaborative drawings which contain inventions and contraptions, with a view to creating a series of large scale digital prints.

It's a real pleasure to be invited to show in such a great space by such lovely people. 'Bon's Debut' has its opening launch Saturday 7th May, 2.30pm - 5.30pm, great work and a great space!

The final engagement day of the Hoyland LIFT Artist Commission went ahead on Friday with an eclectic mix of outcomes. More figure drawings, iPad paintings and portrait studies from life, courtesy of local residents who agreed to come into school and pose for us! Some of the drawings and paintings made by the young artists will feed into the final work which will appear in, on and around the new Hoyland Centre.

The top image was painted on one of my iPads by Monika (a year 6 pupil) during a workshop at West Meadows School in Hoyland, Barnsley, as part of the community engagement process for the Hoyland LIFT Commission. The image below was worked up today by the amazingly generous Susan Murtaugh, on her iPad, in her studio in Wisconsin USA. What an amazing collaboration!
